    Hello Everyone,

I have done some searching throughout this site and many others and cannot seem to get a definitive answer on the following question:

I just purchased an Acer Aspire One and would like to boot from a DVD to install a new OS. The Aspire one doesn't have a CD/DVD drive. Which model of external USB DVD burner should I get that isn't too expensive that will allow me to boot from it? Here are some of the numerous drives I have found but cannot figure out if I can boot from them. Do any of you know from experience if any of these you can boot from or would recommend one that you have used that is bootable. Help, please. Thank you for your help!!

To be honest would personally just go the route that the majority of others use when installing a new operating system on the acer and that is by way off usb memory stick, did plan to go the external disc drive install route myself and even purchased a cheap xbox360 usb drive but ended up just trying the memory stick method whilst waitting on it getting delivered and before I knew it it was installed and working.

my advice - save your money and go the memory stick method or if you must use an external usb drive then pick up a cheap £20 xbox360 drive which will do the job just as well as any off the other fancy ones in your links.

Will I be able to install Windows 7 and Leopard via the USB stick method?

I have a retail copy of Leopard and the Windows 7 beta both on DVD.
