OK so when i plug my power adapter into my laptop after a few minutes the metal tip of the end that is plugged into my laptop heats up and if i touch it it is almost hot enough to burn me, it even burned me once.

A bad/loose or dirty/corroded connection can cause the heat problem also if the cable near the plug in has broken wires it can generate heat.
