What is wrong with my IE and Windows media player?

    My Internet Explorer will not open up hotmail.com (MSN email) at all, and I had to uninstall my windows media player completely because it isn't opening up any video or songs at all. It was acting as if I did not have it. I did reinstall it to see if uninstalling it was what needed to be done, and it still acted the same. It's now officially uninstalled. What can be wrong with these programs?
