Webcam not visible

    Hi I have been trying to use the inbuilt webcam on my Acer Aspire One. I have got it to work under messenger, but my contacts cannot see me. When I turn it on they can see the link to start viewing but it does nothing and if my friend invites me to her webcam i dont even get the invite. All I see is a picture of me and then a black screen where my friend shoudl be. I am unable to run updates at the moment and Acer is looking into this problem as they have already advised me to run a recovery for other issues. Does anyone have any ideas what I am doing wrong.

    My friend is using Windows Live Messenger and I am using the built in messenger under MSN.
