Video Playback Skipping

Hello, I have a Aspire One model AO751h, with a 11.3" screen and when playing digital movies, or any video it doesn't play very well and just skips and lags. Is there way to play these videos with good results? I have not tried to play a DVD from an external drive yet. Help!
