I have a basic iPad, 2019 model, 10.2 ", 7th generation, which I've converted for use as a laptop. My main laptop, though, is my older Toshiba Satellite L55 series, which is working very well. I wanted an extra device that I could use in case my trusty Toshiba should die. Since I already had an iPad, i decided to set it up for laptop use, although it would be used mainly as a desktop device. So I added a Bluetooth keyboard and mouse, and found it to be an acceptable substitute for a standard laptop. I'm not into gaming or any heavy apps that wouldn't work on this setup. Of course, I still have the option to use my iPad as a tablet. I just thought I'd mention this for anyone who may have entertained the same idea.

My second choice may be a Chromebook, but the jury's out on that.
