Hi, I have bought my mother a netbook but would like to know if it can be used with TalkTalk Broadband?
Do they have a mobile broadband network? If not who are the best providers? I thought it would be a good idea to stick with the linux lite version because of speed on the 512 mb harddrive (my mother uses mainly lighter text documents rather than heavy multimedia files) and I have read an article on the PCWorld website saying you do not need anti-virus. I have also read that you do not need to keep updating Linux either.
Any help/suggestions are greatly appreciated. Thanks.

    TalkTalk Broadband?

Your Netbook should just search for available networks and ask you if you want to use the ones that it finds.
You might have to trype in the network key provided by Talk Talk but it really should be easy.

My Aspire One starts up in 15 seconds and connects to my network about 15 seconds later.

Probably not although some people use anti-virosu stuff so they don't pass on viruses to friends.

I have also read that you do not need to keep updating Linux either.

Every once in a while you'll see that there are updates ready to be downloaded. You just accept them. No problem, slick and painless.

Don't ever thing that Linux is no good just because its free. When you look at the price, look at what it is able to do then compare the price with that of Windows then you might become another convert.
Try to take a look at a desktop or a laptop running Ubuntu Linux.
