usb not working while battery use

    Hi all, this is my first post.
    I have an aao that runs win xp sp3, and works fine, I use my aao plugged in almost all the time, but when I use my aao unplugged the usb ports dont work or work very slow (the ports use a lot of time to detect something that is connected to), then I have plug in the aao and wait the battery has its load complete, then the usb ports work fine and fast.
    If you have the solution or suggestion I thank you so much.

    i forget where its at in xp (right click the battery and look around) but go through the power options and disable/turn off any settings dealing with usb.
