I've got an AOA150 that I'm trying to install the Fedora 10 XFCE Spin (after reading the reviews here: viewtopic.php?f=71&t=7759). I downloaded the ISO, and created a bootable USB floppy drive on a spare 2 GB stick. I've tried using both the text based tool and the GUI tool on my Fedora 10 system.

I've confirmed that I can boot the image on another notebook I have (Dell D820), but when I try to boot my Aspire One, I get a rather generic Boot Error message. That's it.

Is there some sort of magic juju that I'm not doing here?

I assume you created a bootable USB stick and not a bootable floppy drive. My former laptop was somewhat picky about bootable USB sticks, some worked fine in other computers but not on that particular machine. Have you tried a different USB stick?

used UNetbootin on both windows and my lipus to copy fedora over to my usb. i can boot from it, but then that error message comes up...

the usb is a formated sandisk 4gb, since it has normally a program on it that can install itself on your computer or something like that...

    FAT32.
    any ideas?

It should work. I've been using unetbootin-linux-313 from Fedora and undebootin version 304-1 from Ubuntu with no problems. I've always pointed it to a specific Diskimage rather than selecting the Distribution and Version, if that matters

is there a way to change the "partition of the disk" from ext3 to ext2 without re-installing it? because now i have installed it and it works ok.... i just really don't want to re-install it again... but will probably do so if it isn't possible...
    just checking....

I believe all you have to do is edit /etc/fstab and change the filesystem type from ext3 to ext2.

kay, according to the guide on the first page, i still need to convert the filesystem again in a "unusual way". now, i tried it, and it didn't go that way, but that's probably because i didn't get how to turn off selinux. but now i found some other guide.. easyer guide to turn off selinux:

    http://www.howtoforge.com/the-perfect-d ... dora-10-p2

but if i bother to do the converting to ext2 again, then i will probably give some tips on that to. last time i tried it messed up the system, i couldn't get internet and i had to reinstall the system again, and do the whole update system again, witch, on a system like this, takes a whole day.....

and when i look at a lot of the things that is written there, the how-to-do and so on, are pretty complex for a guy like me that has no idea about anything that has to do with linux. they should make a compleete noob guide as well...
