Ultra-mobile PC USB image

I used the live USB for the Ultra Mobile PC Image from [URL]http://cdimage.ubuntu.com/releases/intrepid/release/[/URL] Can I boot it on another wired machine and install the madwifi drivers on the USB? Will I break the installer? I want to use xfce instead of gnome so how do I do that?
