    I had no real big problems making Ubuntu Karmic Koala 9.10 Netbook Remix work and for the past few months everything was working just fine so I thought upgrading to the new Lucid Lynx LTS would be a snatch. Not so .. :cry: After install and reboot the screen would just keep flickering and I could not go anywhere. Anyone with the same problem?

    I have not had such a problem with my clean installation of 10.04 NR. It is generally working well with the exception of suspend and hibernate which freeze the machine.

    Suspend and hibernate actually work fine, provided I don't have an SD card mounted in the left-hand slot.

    I don't know of anything specific for Lucid; I presume that most previous Karmic tweaks are still appropriate.

    I am using ext4 without journaling together with the noatime option in /etc/fstab. Opera is flying along on the Super Talent SSD.

    I have also activated acerhdf for fan control and applied a small tweak (found somewhere on the web) to solve a minor problem with the power indicator not updating after unplugging from the power supply.

    I have done a clean install and can get suspend to work well, but still not hibernate. I have an 8GB/512MB machine, and have allocated 1GB as swap.

    With a card in the left slot, it will not suspend - the machine hangs.

    With a script to unmount the card, the machine suspends and restores properly.

    Everything else works well once the fan control is sorted.

    Would you be so kind as to post this script? I am having an issue with suspend because of the SD card I keep in the left slot

    All you need to do is create a little script in /etc/pm/sleep.d/ with the right command to unmount the sd. All scripts in that folder get executed before entering in suspend mode.

    #!/bin/sh
    #00umount-sd - script to unmount sd/sdhc before suspend
    umount /media/(your sd mount directory)
    exit

    Don't forget to chmod it and give execution rights. After that your AAO should unmount the SD before going to suspend.
    chmod +x file gives execute permission for all users
