I've had my AAO for three days now: XP, 1GB of RAM and 120GB HD. Love it so far. But today I noticed that if it went to sleep, either on its own after the prescribed amount of time, or putting it to sleep manually, it wouldn't wake back up. I would have to hold down the power button to shut it down then restart it.

I had already gone to Microsoft update and grabbed all of the updates I needed. So I went into the power settings control panel and changed a bunch of the settings. Now when I manually put it to sleep and then press a key, it does wake back up properly. Anyone else notice anything like this before?

Also, does anyone actually have their AAO hibernate instead of sleep? Is that even possible on the AAO?

    Thanks very much in advance!

    Chris

I use hibernate now instead of sleep. When I did use sleep, I had no such issues.

Thanks. How do you get it to hibernate?

I first made sure that I had all of the Windows updates, then go into the power options (FN + F3) and make a few changes to the settings. After I did that it's been working fine.

    Does "sleeping" mean "standby" ?

The OP may have a fix by now, but for others searching on the standby problem, I just found the solution in replacing the webcam driver, as detailed in this thread. So far so good. I was having trouble with hibernate as well, and that's fixed, too.
