I was using the original windows XP home that came with my AAO, after a while i decided to plug in a USB mouse.

a few hours later (i'm not exactly sure when) the touchpad stopped responding, even when the driver was running. I thought it may just have been a driver issue, but then when i reformatted the whole system to put on macOS/windowsXP pro/Ubuntu, the touchpad still does not work.. I am still using the USB wireless mouse.

Has anyone else had this problem?

Need some advice before I try to send this back and ask for an exchange.

You have tried toggling Fn+F7 (touchpad on-off) haven't you? Can't help further than that tho' :D

Happened to us too. I was trying to hook up to an LCD projector. Normally the toggle for it is Fn F8, but on this I think it ended up being FN F6, so we must have hit F7 trying to find the projector mode!

    Thanks for the clue!

oh my god, this post just saved me a ton of headache...whoever thought there would be touch pad lock on this lil guy...
I hit F7 instead of F6 and have been pulling my hair out since this afternoon....
I already rolled back a windows update, installed the synaptics drivers (which is a positive), and was about to uninstall vista and reload XP from a backup image and return the thing to Acer....

Thanks guys for posting....I have not seen any other laptop have so much support so quickly. Aspireoneuser.com roxxxxxxxx!

Hi I recently had a similar problem after plugging in a usb mouse but the fn+f7 method does not seem to work as when I pressed it, the screen showed the trackpad as disabled and then I re-enabled it but the trackpad still does not respond. Does anyone have any more ideas as to how to fix this?

    Thanks

My problem is a little more serious..I need to replace the small zif cable that attaches the touchpad to the mobo.. Does anyone know where I can get a replacement?
