I have successfully installed Ubuntu using the guide, but I am finding that attempting to play audio files with Totem (aka "Video Player") causes the system to freeze hard, requiring a forced shutdown (hold down power button).

The logon sounds do however play fine. Any ideas?

EDIT: Further investigation shows that the freeze only happens when using GStreamer-based players (at least it doesn't happen with VLC)...

EDIT: Have done further investigation and found that it only occurs with Totem and only when the visualisation feature is enabled. Have disabled this feature as a workaround.

Ive came up with the same problem. Totem and Mplayer crashes the whole system. VLC is indeed working beautifully.
