 anyone got a old download of Aspire one Fan control for Bios 3114?

or does the 1.6 version of it work with bios 3114?

bios 3114 is the bios with the 4 lower brightness settings right?

it's like staring at the sun up close when it's dark... :x

I'm thinking about using a old bios just to fix this blindly bright screen and also want the fan control thingy to work as well.

Why not just upgrade to the newest bios? 3309 also has 10 brightness levels just as the old bios does. AA1fanctrl and A1ctl both work with the newest bios.

Because the 4 lowest backlight levels are brighter on certain types of LCD panel with BIOS v3301 onwards. It's all documented in the BIOS release notes.

AA1FanControl v1.6 and BIOS v3114 work fine for me.

If you have one of the "faulted displays" that work just fine like I do, you can get the newest BIOS and still get the lowest brightness settings by using a Gateway or Packard Bell BIOS with you Aspire One. They have the same hardware, except for the faulted panels so the panel "fixes" are not there.

Macles has some info about it. I flashed my One with the Gateway BIOS and the bugger works like a charm now.

Note that those BIOSes have different version numbering than the One does, so you have to figure out a work-around for the BIOS version check, which was very easy with Ubuntu and acerfand.

Good find. I will certainly give the Gateway BIOS a try.
