My Dell Inspiron used for 5 years is too slow to play games and I need a new one. My friend recommends some laptops concerning the budget of $900. I tend to these two machine:

    Asus Vivobook Pro N552VW

-- i7-6700HQ at 2.60GHz (turbo up to 3.5GHz) which is a 4-cores/8-threads processor with a single core performance.
    -- RAM: 8GB
    -- Hard disk drive : 1TB
    -- GPU: GeForce GTX 960M

    Acer Aspire VX5

    -- i5-7300HQ
    -- 8GB of DDR4 RAM and a GTX 1050 with 4GB of GDDR5 VRAM
    -- 256GB M.2 SSD

In fact, I am not good at hardware, and I just start to play DOTA and some small games. Any suggestions would be preferred.

Welcome to the laptop forums site

It's a tough choice between them, here's some online reviews.
The asus may just have the edge.
