The main storage expansion slot on my Aspire One AOA110 stopped working. The drive no longer appears My computer, and the device no longer appears in Device Manager. I put a 2 GB SD into the slot, and it also is not recognized. This is a problem because I am left with only 8GB of space (on the SSD).

I could use the other expansion slot but SD cards do not fit flush using that port. So I worry about the card getting bumped because the SD card protrudes.

I'm concluding that the Perhaps the main storage expansion slot is dead, unless maybe this is a known issue that can be resolved with some clever command!

Has anyone tried replacing that unit? Is it welded to the Mobo?

Thanks in advance for any suggestions!!

As it turns out, this was software related somehow. I wiped the OS and reinstalled from the restore CD and the expansion slot worked again. Very puzzling. I wonder what could have cased this to happen?
