The MSN problem will be solved... eventually.

    Link

    Problem Description

User can't sign in MSN, and get message "Our Protocol is not supported by MSN server."
    Root Cause

Microsoft truns off supporting on Windows Live Messenger v.8.0 that uses MSNP v13 protocol,
and Aspire one Messenger uses this version too.
    Problem Impact

    AOA 110 series
    Solution Description

RD team is working to upgrade the protocol supporting to MSNP v15.

    1. Tell user to use web messenger as MSN substitution, by launch browser and connect to this web side. http://webmessenger.msn.com/
    2. After RD successfully upgrades the protocol, we will put on live update server and users can upgrade on that. (Schdule 8 Aug.)

Thanks for posting that, glad to see acer is taking care of it.. But the workaround in the meantime is not working either..

"Your web browser is not supported by this version of MSN Web Messenger."

not so helpful.. hope fully it is fixed by the 8th.

    Thanks for posting.

I wonder why my local Acer support couldn't tell me the same. They said they did not have any kind of support for the installed software. Which is clearly wrong since that tech buletin clearly states that this is a critical problem. Oh well. I guess I'll just head back here when I need answers. ;)

That's good to know, but I had the same problem with yahoo... couldn't login either.

    weird.

everything works with PidGin... too bad there is not yet a webcam support in there.

3pm August 7 in the UK and I have just installed the "Acer Communication Suite" patch and the AOO IM client is now - for the first time ever - working with the MSN account that hangs of my AOL addy - so I'd day its fixed!

    Nice one Acer.

web cam works OK in Yahoo - be great if it worked in MSN too, but since Pidgin doesn't support web cam period I am still pretty happy just to have text IM on MSN

it's seems acer trying to provide best MSN compatibility features to user, like video, voice, animating emoticon. But blocked by microsoft's windows live server. so this update doesn't have these features. Current protocol is same as pidgin MSNP9, the only chance now is to support MSNP15 that used in WLM8.5.

had my first MSN video/audio chat yesterday, so looks like the MSN issues are well and truly fixed.

Side note, unlike Pidgin the AAO IM will display messages forwarded when you are off-line - they just open up when you log in as they would is you were using MSN proper.

I've just bought the Linpus Linux version of the Acer One...

Even after the live update, I get the protocol error.

Is there still not a fix for this?

Beginning to wish I'd not bothered with it now!
