    Hello ,
When I go up in terminal console I can see all the previous commands I typed before .
One day , i mistyped the root password , and when retyped it , it has been recorded as a command .
Now each time I go up in history , i can see the password in clear :?
Do somebody know which file I should edit to clear this line ?

    Possibly on a similar note:

How on earth can I clear the commands I've typed into the "Alt F2" run box ??

Tried the mousepad bash thing suggested above -did nothing- so I figure that's clearing something else.

Anyone know the command to clear the run history please ?

Many thanks from a grateful noob :)

ps: reason I want to clear is, I've been customising the desktop n stuff as these are for work folk.
I don't want anyone coming across all the crap I've been running & screwing them up !!

Thanks for one helluvva speedy response !!

Tried that from ALT F2 and also from Terminal with same result >
    blank document

What exactly do I need to do to use that command ??
ie: where tdo I type it, or what do I need to do to reach the box where I type it ??
Remember, I'm thoroughly noob to this thing.

if it's relevant. I'm using an Aspire A110AB.
    Linpus (obviously) 8Gb SSD drive.

    Many thanks...

Open a terminal. Easy way is ALT-F2 and type in "terminal" without quotes. Once in the terminal, run the command.

    Cheers.

Thanks again rbil, that's got the bounder !!
Note to anyone else readnig this, you need to reboot for that history to clear.
Thinking about it, not sure I tried a reboot after using the first command, will try that with the next one & left y'all know.

Thanks again rbil, saved me a big headache :D
