I recently installed Fedora 10 following Jorge Fbarr's page.( on ext2 with no swap )
Works pretty well , but still a bit slow.
The strange thing is that I feel the system more responsive while downloading something with firefox ( at 70 ko/s )
Accesses to the disk are instant , no freeze at all.
Do you experiment the same thing ?
Is there some kind of powersaving somewhere ? any idea ?
Thanks for ideas to test , I would like to have the same fluidity all the time without downloading

This has nothing to do with SSD but it might be related to the symptom you noticed. Jorge's blog page (http://jorge.fbarr.net/2008/11/10/fedor ... spire-one/) says how to make the Aspire One refrain from slowing to half speed (800mhz) when it is idle. Search for the word "cpuspeed". I have not tried it myself.
