Im in the market for a new SSD for my Precsion 5540, after my old one turned crispy chicken after overheating. Luckily the slot still works. Its my first time looking for new parts. So any help in where to find reliable parts for a good prices would be really nice

Couple of points to watch, depends on your priorities but if it is reliability rather than cost you should choose a manufacturer that has a good reputation. As you are aware SSDs can fail catastrophically without warning, but the risk is lower with leading brands like Western Digital, Samsung etc. that want to keep their reputation.
Check out the going rate for the one(s) you choose, and don't be tempted to buy cheap - you could be buying a factory second or non geniune. High volume suppliers are your best bet and can offer competitive rates for genuine new items. They will also have a better range to choose from and offer a more reliable after sales if you have a problem. I have a couple of suppliers that I favour - CPC Farnell for example that will cover return postage and have excellent after sales support, or Central Computers (Midlands) Ltd. are also competitive and served me well.
Plenty of cheaper options, if you want to keep cost to a minimum, but they just carry a higher risk.
