Just a driver tweak (option) I've found that works, results may vary.

    START>Control Panel>Network and Internet Connections>Network Connections

Right Click Atheros WLAN then Properties

    Under General Tab, Click Configure

Under Advanced Tab, Click Power Save Mode

Change the Default Maxmium to Normal/Off for Wi-Fi speed boost.

Note: Changing to Normal or Off depending will reduce battery life but gives better speed/connection.

Another thing I forgot to mention,

If the Power Save Mode is set to 'Normal'/'Maximum' under the same advanced tab in configure look for Power Save Policy (all of them) and set them all to WMM Power Save.

I've noticed this saves the same amount of battery life but speeds are slightly faster especially if your router support WMM function.

Note: This does not apply if Power Save Mode is set to 'Off'.

    ;)
