    Hi guys,

I'm new to the forum and new to the Acer Aspire.
I have some very basic questions that I'd be grateful if you could help me with.

    1) I can't seem to change the background of the GUI to an image of my choice (in downloads) without it failing to load on restart. I've selected it through the advanced menu? Is there anything I'm doing wrong?

    2) Is there an easy way to get installed applications onto the front end GUI? I've installed amarok and Vlc and would like to have them selectable from the front page.

    3) Is it possible to change the icons of the programs on the start page?

    Thanks,

    Tom

    1) You need to put the new wallpaper in the same directory as the default wallpaper, otherwise it won't persist beyond a reboot.
    2) Try this thread: viewtopic.php?f=44&t=123&hilit=group+app+xml
    3) Yes. You need to change the "icon=" line in the .desktop file. That won't mean anything until you've read the link above.
