    Hi everyone!!!

I'm so happy, writing this from my AA1 using the Atheros Card!!!
I got it to work today, I just wanted to let you know. I will share this,
just let me make a tutorial, check the credits, and grab the files.

IT IS WORKING! Connected to a WEP network, detected as AirPort!

    Wow. I'm really happy.

Just for the note, no hardware was modified, I used the stock Atheros Card
    that came with my AA1.

I'll come back tomorrow @ this time to upload everything!

AA1 the best NetBook for OS X!

Wow - Can't wait to get the details. Just got my AA1 a few days ago, and had already ordered a wireless card. But would rather keep this thing sealed if possible.

    Love this darn system!

    Hi everyone again.

Just for the note, I'm not willing to make you wait, I'm just gathering the required files.
Also, I'm testing it to make sure everything works and it won't hurt your AA1.
GOOD NEWS: Reinstalled a Fresh copy of OS X to see if it works, and yay! it works again.

    In preparation: *you need

Acer Aspire One w/ Atheros 5007 Wi-Fi Card
    Mac OS X 10.5.5
Apple AirPort Update 2008 04 *latest one
Kernel *works with vanilla and speedstep

    I'll return in some hours!!!

A few days back I tried that insanelymac suggestion with the AirportUpdate:

You cannot install the selected software on this Macinosh

or WTTE. iStumbler said my Airport card was installed but not operating.
I can turn Airport on in the Network Prefs, at least it looks like it's turning on,
but it doesn't see any local networks. ifconfig says its up and running,
netstat shows en1 connected to 127.0.0.1, but nada...

Elsewhere on insanelymac there was a suggestion that Atheros and Acer
conspired to use IRQ255 for this card, which would be a near impossible hack.

I was able to install the update and run kismac with the passive driver but it didn't pick anything up or magically start working like it did on other system configs. It'd be nice if it worked, but for $25 dollars you can get an N compatible card that works in OSX, Linux, and Windows. Or if speed doesn't matter the dell card seems to be even cheaper!

it'll be probly said in some other topic, but what N-draft card are you refering to? I'd be interested in one for only 25$...
Is it just as wonderfully compatible as the dell 1390, which doesnt need any kext or other hack / tweak?

    Hi everyone, RELEASE TIME!
I was a bit busy, now lets get this working!

    You'll need:

    - File from step 1.
    - Kismac Trunk r139
    - KextHelper

As preparation, install 2008004 AirPort Update from Apple.

Adapted to AA1 from oldmaclover's guide.

I did this on a 10.5.5 Install with the update, tested and working.

    1. Download the required file from http://rapidshare.com/files/170327300/I ... t.zip.html
    2. Open KextHelper, and drag the IO... file there, write your password and install it
    3. Close KextHelper
    4. Drag Kismac to your Applications folder
    5. Reboot
5.1 When your computer is on again, you should see the Airport Icon in Finder, if not, go to step a1, if yes continue
5.2 AirPort Icon should be filled with gray bars, if yes continue, if not go to a2
    6. As soon as your Computer turns on, open Kismac from your Applications folder
    7. Click on Kismac, Preferences, Driver, and Add AirPort Extreme Passive Mode
    8. Close preferences
    9. Click on Start Scan, if everything went fine, networks should get listed, if yes continue, if not go to a3.
    10. Close Kismac, and now click on the AirPort icon in Finder.
    11. Vuala! Networks should be listed now! Just Click on one and connect as normal, if not.

a1. The AirPort Icon is not in Finder.
If the logo is not there, you can enable it by openning System Preferences, Network, Click AirPort, check Show AirPort status...
This should make the logo appear, if yes, you can continue to step 5.2

a2. AirPort Icon is not filled with gray bars, it is just a plain logo *nothing inside.
End, something is wrong with you AppleACPIPlatform.kext, I recommend to extract it from iAtkos 4i and try again.

a3. If no networks get listed, then reboot and try again, if not, turn off and then turn on and try again.
If it is still not working, boot into windows, use it for a minute, and **reboot into Mac and that should work.
If still not, go to a2.

    Hope this works for everyone.

Great job! If it does work for everyone, this is a major breakthrough for OS X on the AA1!
