Website is back online, sorry for the issues
    http://www.aspireonekernel.com

Yes I believe the acerhdf isnt working with this kernel. I will recompile in the next few days.

Sorry about all the delays I have been really busy with a new job.

Yes. It should simply be a matter of doing that and rebooting. The filesystem will be fine - The kernel supports etx2 and ext3 builtin and ext4, xfs, reiserfs etc as modules.

    Re: SlCKB0Y/Kuki kernel 2.6.28 Release

Just downloaded and applied to my almost new install of 8.10 (EasyPeasy build)

The start of the output log is:

    Selecting previously deselected package linux-image-2.6.28.
(Reading database ... 90896 files and directories currently installed.)
    Unpacking linux-image-2.6.28 (from linux-image-2.6.28_Sickboy.Kuki.0.1_i386.deb) ...
    Done.
    Setting up linux-image-2.6.28 (Sickboy.Kuki.0.1) ...

Hmm. There is a symbolic link /lib/modules/2.6.28/build
However, I can not read it: No such file or directory
    Therefore, I am deleting /lib/modules/2.6.28/build

Hmm. The package shipped with a symbolic link /lib/modules/2.6.28/source
However, I can not read the target: No such file or directory
    Therefore, I am deleting /lib/modules/2.6.28/source

    Running depmod.
    etc
    etc
    etc
    ================

So is this message important? Without those symbolic links working, has the update failed? The rest of the output continued ok, and I don't know what/where to check to see if the new kernel is in use.

    this is normal

Reboot and do a uname -r to check the kernel is being used.

    Re: SlCKB0Y/Kuki kernel 2.6.28 Release

possibly a silly question,, but can you disable the wifi in Ubuntu so you can use the acer one on a plane ?

Any way to get the kill switch to work ?
    Thanks :)

    Re: SlCKB0Y/Kuki kernel 2.6.28 Release

great kernel man, cut my boot time down a serious amount..

only issue i have is Wifi

    i am currently using madwifi-ng on 27-11generic.

i followed the guides on the ubuntu aspire one wiki, am my wifi works fine and even the LED is workin,

however well i select your kernel from grub i cannot get networkmanager to recog my wifi card

    however if i do a modprobe ath5k

and take a look in airodump-ng on mon0, then i can see all the AP's near me, so the card is definatley up.

    any ideas??

EDIT -- fixed the wifi error i had issues in rc.local. it was still calling ath_pci. channged to ath5k now working..

still cant get my SD card to show however even with the debug fix applied to the kernel line.

    Re: SlCKB0Y/Kuki kernel 2.6.28 Release

Same here. This broke apt, synaptic, etc as the package comes up as "not fully installed" and wants to run again every time the package manager is run. Also adds grub and mbr to the autoremove list -- don't inadvertently wipe out grub!

From the grub menu, this kernel takes ~2 seconds longer than the rc8 version. Probably for loading the new modules?

The specific errors are in postinst -- I think due to all the missing stuff, postinst can't complete. At least that's where it's complaining for me.

On the upside, the wifi light is flashing.

    Re: SlCKB0Y/Kuki kernel 2.6.28 Release

Has the SDHC been put into the kernel as a module, or compiled directly into the module? That's the prerequisite for the quirk=1 to working
