Screen and lid switch not working aspire 5742Z

Screen very very dim and lid open/close has no affect. Everything else works OK, used with exyernal monitor.

Have tried check contacts, new screen, new ribbon cable and new lid switch.

No idea what to try next.

 

Take a look in the control panel under power options, you may wish to adjust the brightness from there.

 

Thanks, but..
My fault..screen is not just dim, it is very very dim..probably no backlight
Also adjusting brightness would not explain why open/closing lid affects nothing
I feel the two have a common cause somehow.
Also Win 10..brightness control is no longer under control panel, it's under settings
PS Screen is led backlit, so there is no inverter

I would also look at uninstalling the graphic driver, go to the search bar and type device manager
then right click on the display adaptors the choose uninstall for your listed driver/drivers.
Then reboot.

The problem could just be the driver file
