Appearently the AA1's root password is set to "111111" (at least on my machine).
I would like to change this to my own root password.
I am now wondering if it is save to do so or will other programs that depend on root rights e.g. LiveUpdate etc. fail to execute?

From my Linux understanding it shouldnt make a difference, but I dont know how much Acer has "customized" Linpus itself.

    Code:
    sudo passwd
will allow you to change the root password. Without having to type anything to verify ... Acer somewhat broke security :(

Aside, there are quite a few topics on this already.

    Thanks!
Well, since Acer changed security it doesnt really make sense to give away my own root password because as a simple 'user' you can execute any root password with 'sudo' without being asked for the password

From a security point of view I think this is a desaster!!!
For users (and Acer) it is convenient to modify things
