    Hello folks
I have bought a new battery, (NOT DELL) for my laptop. When I insert the battery I get a message from 'Dell' saying 'battery not recognised' and 'will not charge'. It is a more powerful battery , 7800mAh but I checked thoroughly on the company that were selling them to make sure it was compatible. HELP! How can I get the battery recognised and to charge? Any help would be gratefully received.
    Regards
    Miki

Dell 'Chargers' seem to have a built in detector... if you can 'Borrow a Look-a-like charger that will fit your Dell (same size power connector) I believe that that message will not pop up...

My own, now passed on to to a relative, Dells had 'Replacement Power Chargers' and 'Replacement Batteries' and I never say any notifications like that.

    Hi Miki,

The battery is likely defective and needs to be replaced by the seller for another one. I use to buy batteries from Amazon/Ebay for my office and would see this behavior quite often. I got to be such a hassle returning them that we just stopped buying from them and switched to a different retail supplier that does a better job.

    Regards
