Recording audio through Mic Jack doesn't work

    I tried recording using a standard shure sm58 vocal mic into my AAO mic jack, and the recording quality is horrid. Same with any other mics. It's like the computer isn't getting the entire connection. Is there a known mic jack issue out there that I've missed? Recording works fine with he built in mic.
