The other day, I successfully installed a 16G CompactFlash replacement for the SSD. After that, I installed XP from the restore discs. After finding out that was XP Home, I installed XP Pro instead. Things were working well.

Now, my AAO spontaneously shuts down around 30s.

This is not OS dependent. I tried booting from the XP CD, and it shutdown while booting. I also tried booting from a Fedora 10 CD, and during that process, it also shut down.

One thing that I have noticed is that the fan doesn't come on anymore. I remember last night in XP Home, the fan was always on, but when I try XP Pro, it's not on. While booting into Fedora, I remember the fan would at least spin at a low speed.

I plan on opening up the AAO and putting the stock SSD back as a test, but before that, does anyone have any ideas? Other than the SSD replacement, I also have a Dell 1390 wlan card.

Sounds like it is shutdown the computer because it senses a fan failure.

Mine did that brand new (refurbished) out of the box. I read the same post mentioned above regarding the fan, so I decided to smack it on the side where the fan is to try to "jump start" it.

Fan started spinning and has worked great ever since.

+1.... Couldn't load XP or OSX and even BIOS shut down in under a minute.
A couple of slaps on the case, under the fan, and all is good.
    Thanks for the tip.
