I know that it stresses out the battery when you calibrate, but when I am not doing that, the wear level still continues, even discharged to 40%.
I think I will just get another battery in the future, when this battery becomes fully unacceptable.
Thank you all, so much for helping me out!

I'm just curious...Are you actually experiencing the wear? Are your physical runtimes with the battery actually worse? Or are you just reading off the number that Everest is giving you?

I'm just trying to say that I don't think I'd worry about it at all unless I personally experienced a difference in battery life. You may just be freaked out about nothing at all.

Hmmm... 12 minutes out of the 330 minutes you should be getting is roughly 3%? I can't help but think that the software is exaggerating the problem in that case.

probably, but thats what I've experienced so far, I downloaded BIOS 3305, I don't know if that helps at all :D

I've just confirmed what you've been seeing Judeh. Had this machine for a week so far and the battery has lost 3WHr according to RMClock's battery meter, which is like a 5% loss. Haven't noticed a noticeable dip in runtime though. I would love to find out if there were other things I could shutoff to conserve power...stupid northbridge....

Yeah, I hope it's not serious. I don't think the warranty covers the battery at all so if I got a dud, I'm boned. I hope Acer doesn't make me want to buy an NC10 instead.

haha, I really think there is something wrong with Acer's ACPI coding with the battery. The battery can't go wrong without reason.
if there is only a way to calibrate without at all draining the battery.

ok, there is definitely something going wrong there...
I think it is just bad firmware coding in the battery.

the way i used 110 is to use up almost all battery, then power off & recharge to full, then repeat the same charging cycle

i did the same pattern on my thinkpad t43 which also with li-ion battery, after 2 yrs it's just only 15% wear :(

My battery has 35% wear yet it still last 6 and half hours. It was running about 6 hour 45 minutes 2 month ago.

Go by physical runtime, not some numbers that are generated by the firmware/bios/software. Numbers like that are b/s imo.

Stuff like that just isn't entirely accurate.

if you're worried about bs software projections...
    on linux at least...
    you can run
    Code:
    cat /proc/acpi/battery/BAT1/state
it will show you remaining capacity in mAh.

together with "powertop" which you can use to figure out how many watts you're using on average, you can calculate a reliable runtime projection.

That said, seems I have the same problem. I started out with 2400mAh, now have 2143mAh (its a hardware reading I believe). drop of 11% for me in about 2 months. and I've been VERY careful with this battery.

ok, here it is, I called acer
    they are superbad!
I called them, my battery is not lasting like 5 hours or nothing close to the time they advertised, he said that 6 cell is standard if they'd last 2 hours.

yeah, it pissed me off pretty badly, he also said that he has an acer which laptop lasts 2 hours, so it is no big deal. He said it is industrial standards.
