I'm looking into laptops for the upcoming school year. I'm an engineering student who will be using AutoCAD, MATLAB and Solid Works frequently.

    The decisions lies with ...
    HP Envy 17.3" (Intel Core i7-8550U/1TB HDD/16GB RAM/Windows 10)
    or
    HP Pavillion 15.6" (Intel Core i7-8550U/256GB SSD/12GB RAM/Windows 10)

I guess the question is, do I go with increased RAM and total memory space or go with having SSD? Screen size is not important to me.

You will never understand how you lived without an ssd after using one.
