I noticed my Opera browser and IM app freezing every once in a while on my system, and tracked it to the prelink program... (read about it here http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Prelinking)

Once I disabled it, stuff stopped freezing on me so I thought I'd share the tip. Read up about prelinking and decide if you need this tweak or not, and again no guarantees that it can work but it works for me ;)

    Just type:

    Code:
     sudo mousepad /etc/sysconfig/prelink
To turn it off, change the prelinking line to no, like this:

    Save. Reboot :)

i have this problem too, although i run debian, no ideea why, as of yet.
its not just mozilla that freezes, but everything. from time to time, it just stops responding for a few secs.
i mention that prelink is not installed....

also, i have to boot the kernel with "noacpi" option, otherwise it waits about 10 mins before it boots :(

Hm i don't think it's the same problem here, and since I've never tried debian on the AAO I'm afraid it could be anything - some kind of configuration problem...

I have this issue using FF3. I am trying your method and we'll see if it improves.

FF3 has a known slow down issue. See macles.blogspot.com - there is definitely a post somwehre there about the lag issues and how to work around it. Not sure if prelink will help in your case...
