Question: why bad gradient colors in xfdesktop?

    I'm aware we can't set 32 bit resolutions normally (I don't know how to do it, editing xorg.conf to 32 bitdepth brakes xorg), but I don't think it's the matter: if you go and change your desktop background to a gradient, the gradient will look like made with 256 colors or the like.
    Why is that??

    Are we sure the correct driver is being used and that there's not the problem the guy of the comments is hinting at? I guess it's not a matter of drivers anyway... 6 bits... Aww...

    The driver didn't work, gave error messages, not letting xorg start.
    I'm tired of all these troubles, the system seems made to work only with standard out of the box settings, I'm hating this Linpus. If it were viable, I would make a gentoo install from scratch, so I would know exactly what the hell is in the system, but I guess too many things wouldn't be supported.
