I have a weird problem where I close the lid and it will halfway go into standby sometimes. You can still see the harddrive light blinking. However, you cannot resume the computer once you open it back up. The screen is blank and you have to hold the power button to shut it off. Again, this only happens sometimes, not every time.

Also, the same thing happens, sometimes, when I manually go through the start menu and go to standby mode.

Kind of a minor inconvenience but it can be annoying at times. Anyone else have this problem or a possible solution to it?

i'm pretty sure that you can only set the computer to go into standby, hibernate, or shutdown when you close the lid

only thing i could say is use the Fn key to turn off the monitor to save battery life when you're just listening to music

To get this thread back on track from being hijacked.

To be able to answer you question properly you need to tell us what OS you are using since the options and where the options can be found are different as per the OS.

    I'm on Windows XP Home.

However, the problem isn't finding the settings, I know that is in the control panel. It is set to go to standby, which is does. Sometimes, though, the screen will just be blank when I open it back up and the hard drive light will be blinking. I then have to hold down the power button and completely turn off the computer in order to get it started up again. I have no idea why this randomly happens.

Sounds like you've got some registry problems. Run a registry repair program. If you don't have one a good free one is at:
    http://www.glarysoft.com/gu.html?tag=download

Go to one click maintenance and let it run. Reboot and you should be good.

It's probably the imfamous webcam driver problem which prevents the netbook from properly going into standby and hibernation

Running a registry cleaner and hoping for this problem to disappear is a very long shot, I'd think.

    I?[/quote]

I take it you haven't tried it? Worked great for me.
Also updating to 3309 didn't hurt.

    Hi,
I've got exactly thesame symptoms after running windows update (500mb download!).
Could it be the WebCam drivers?
let me know if you have any solutions...

    Cheers

I have the problem of not being able to wake my Aspire One AOA 150-1029 from sleep when I close the lid or use Fn-F4. I have to shut it down and reboot. I think that is problem that Snappy is having.

Sleep or hibernation? If it is hibernation go to adjust power proberites/hibernation/uncheck "enable hibernation" ok.
Do the same again and check "enable hibernation" then ok. That should clear any problems and start a new file.
