Got Aspire One 4 weeks ago with Linpus, very pleased so far and relieved to be released from Windows. Except for printing; after a search for a suitable printer bought a Canon ip1900 basic photo printer (£25 in Asda). I bought Canon as their web site has a linux driver for this printer. However when downloaded the driver tar - name - ip1900_debian_printer.tar it will not open with X Archive. I assume this is some sort of Fedora vs other Linux quirk.
Have tried with generic driver with no success and with a Canon BJ10 driver but no luck.
Can anyone help on installing the debian driver - a converter program 'alien' rings a bell.

I downloaded turboprint which has drivers for just about every Canon and Epson printer. Installed it, picked ip1800 driver and away it went. Might have to pay 30 euro when free 30 day trial runs out.
