    OK, here's the procedure:

    - Nothing at all connected to the machine (no ethernet cable, no external drive, no nothing)
    - Set System Preferences>Energy Saving to "Never" on both settings.
    - Set System Preferences>Desktop & Screensaver to "Never". This ensured that the screen would always stay on.
    - Switched off the machine, waited until battery was fully loaded (green light)
    - Unplugged the charger, switched on the machine at 16:07 pm.
    - While booting, set the screen to half brightness (5 steps out of 10).
    - Let it sit there, doing nothing. Not very typical of real usage, I know, but I wanted to know what the maximum battery life would be, and it ensures that the procedure can be used by others in a "scientific" way ;)
    - Gave me a battery-low warning at 10% left or so (IIRC)
    - Shut down by itself at 18:39pm (0% battery).

==> 2 hours and 32 minutes of battery life under Mac OS X (iATKOS 4i release).

    Please note:
    - I replaced the SSD in my One with a 30GB 1.8" drive.
    - SpeedStep was enabled, so the One ran @ 800 MHz most of the time.

i would love to post my battery life but i have no idea how to fix it. i have the kalyway 10.5.2 disk installed then upgraded to 10.5.3, then 10.5.4 and still my batter icon isnt showing me any status. i know there must be another post where it could explain it more in deph but they dont seem to work for me. i also installed "ACPIBattery.kext" from paul's utility bundle, repaired, and reboot but still no luck

about the same for me running same setup.

i am leaning more towards this for $69 which can charge/run other devices rather than the $120 or so 6 Cell battery for the Aspire.

Mine only runs for about 2:00 when doing nothing and under heavy usage 1:30 I wonder whether my battery is getting old already (44 charge cycles it says under osx). My speedstep works and I'm always using the lowest backlight setting.
