PCIe x16 slot not working on 3910-4022

I was wondering if anyone else has tried the PCIe slot in the Aspire 3910 desktop. When I plug a device into the slot the HDMI stops working. I am trying to install a capture card into the system but with no luck. Even if I take the wireless card that came with the system and plug it into the PCIe x16 slot the same thing happens, no video from the HDMI port. Can anyone help . . .
