Could you guys who have overclocked download passmark performance test and run the full benchmark suite and provide us with a score??? Then at least we'll know if it's worth taking the gamble to overclock, cheers! :)

Actually, that's what I did.. I took off R124 and then closed R122 using just a pencil. Worked like a charm. I can only get to around 1800 MHz though.. I'm assuming because of my RAM timings.

    :D

Ok so I just finished soldering and to be honest that was the easy part, now I am struggling with setfsb.

I have a SLG8SP513V and as the updates said, I tried either slg505yc256bt or SLG505YC264BT to set the clock without playing with the registers. Unfortunately seconds after I make the change the laptop freezes. Anything higher than stock 133 will freeze. With DDR2-667 ram in there I would think it wouldn't.

I would try the first instructions changing the SLG8SP513V registers but I need clarification because I'm not sure what to press, this set and bit lingo isn't working for me. The diagnosis screen has two registers, one PLL and one SMBus. I gather the PLL has to be changed. I see register 14 as "6A" if I click on it on the bottom is only a hex and bin numbers which I can't correspond with the instructions. Can anyone tell me what to change? Thanks.

That's the wrong register! You are at register 20 not 14. The register number is in the brackets. Register 14 is in row 00, column 0E and should have a default value of 04.
    It looks like this:
    Offset: 0Eh(14) Hex:04 Bin:00000100

I'll give you the hex values instead of binary:
    default - 04
    137MHz - A4
    140MHz - C4
    144MHz - E4

Thanks Mali for the help, though unfortunately it didn't help for me. Still keeps freezing seconds after it switches to the new frequency. Underclocking, removing the memorystick, setting windows 7 to max performance, setting setfsb to xp compatibility, re-checking solder points, updating bios, reverting intel drivers, all doesn't work.

To be honest it sounds as though it has something to do with my HDD. The thing is windows doesn't fully freeze. I can move things around like windows and the mouse and also open the start menu. I can even have a internet explorer window open with a java game running no problem. However what I can't do it load something new. The moment I try then it freezes. My HDD light is constantly on or it doesn't blink at all meaning the HDD is affected. Maybe the hdd controller just doesn't like me lol.

Something else you could try is using an older SetFSB version, maybe it's a bug.

I reverted to the setfsb version that was available at the time the guide was written, but with the same result. Changing register 1 to gain a tiny 4mhz boost works, but changing register 14 sure doesn't. I know my solder points are good as I have checked the r122 circuit with adjoining points and it does show 10k ohms passing through the r122 resistor. Guess I have to accept my aspireone doesn't overclock. Well it was worth a try that's for sure :). Thanks guys.

I have reached the limit for uploads to this site. (Seriously, they have a limit)

All the ones I have modified are ugly, resistors out of alignment and solder joints all nasty... Not worthy of a picture.

Mine doesn't look very good, either. Before I found out the TME thing I did some other MODs at the Bsel connections and even cut some traces(to no avail, btw) that had to be rewired later on

A question about R124, is it very small??

if I break it, can I use an standard 10k resistor without problems??

    Im thinking make this mod....

Yes, it is very small. Hard to break, but easy to lose. Standard resistors are too large.
