Old toshiba L650 keeps presenting line after line of F in search or password areas

    My old toshiba l650 fills up any text area with the letter f ... pressure and + key to stop it then backspace to delete the f's
    Also when in some programs, ie photoshop the work area bounces around until I press esc key then it briefly settles.
    I understand it is probably past its use by date , however as a pensioner I'm not in a position to replace it for 3 months or so...any ideas would be greatly appreciated
