Okay to use an AC adapter with higher amperage?

The AC adapter that came with my new Acer Aspire One AOA150-1049 specifies output of 19V and 1.58A (and center positive).

I have some adapters from an older Acer Travelmate 600TER computer, which have the same connector and output the same 19V, center positive, but put out 3.16A. Are they okay to use with my Aspire?

(I live in Canada, with standard 110V North American power.)

    Many thanks!

That would be fine. The rated amperage of the AC adapter is the maximum that it can deliver. The 'One' will only use the amperage that it needs.

...just to make sure it wont blow up your laptop, try to test for output DC voltage and compare it with the AAO adapter. If you do the test, be careful not to short circuit the terminals. The 19V figure is for 3.16 A, the voltage might be higher at 1.6 A. You need to check if you want to be safe.
