Noob needs help installing VLC...

    Ok guys - just got my shiny new Aspire One today with Linux- I've never seen Linux before so am completely new to it all and a little daunted with how to install things... I'm sure im not the first or the last person to say this... lol

    Anyway I've followed the guide as to how to install VLC but am getting errors after running yum install vlc that state there are missing dependencies... what are dependencies and can someone talk me through step by step how to resolve them?

    I'm very PC literate with windows but like I say this is the first time i've used a system with Linux so haven't a clue where to start with it all :?: If somebody could talk me through step by step that would be brilliant :)
