No wifi

Hi. I have just bought a second hand Toshiba Satellite laptop and it will not connect to my Virgin Wi-Fi. I have tried numerous suggestions from both Virgin and YouTube but it will not find my Wi-Fi connection, it doesn’t show I the list of available networks. What am I missing
