    Hello,

I just got an Aspire One 531. Nice machine, but XP only. So I installed Ubuntu 9.04 that generally works great on netbooks. I didn't expect it to have problems with the wireless card. But it does, wireless is always greyed out in the network menu, status: deactivated. The alternative madwifi driver doesn't work neither.

    Anybody solved this problem yet?

    Thank you in advance.

    Hi,

luckily, after a lot of try-and-error, I'm able now to answer myself ;)

It's not the drivers, it's the control panel. Just install wicd via the Package Manager - it will uninstall the gnome-networkmanager at the same time. Reboot and you're done. The Acer Aspire One 531 will now connect to wireless networks, too.
