    Hi!

I'm a newbie to Linpus and installation under linux,

my sytem is Linpus Linux Lite v1.0.9.E

I installed the vlc media player according to
    http://www.unixmen.com/index.php?op...a-players-in-linpus&catid=13:linpus&Itemid=20

    i opened a shell, i.e. [user@localhost Documents]$

and followed the second alternative, i.e.
Problem: when I open a video (wmv) with vlc I see the video but have no sound. There is no volume control bar in Linpus, I only have the one of the media player, and I checked that it is not mute. Moreover, when I now open a video with mplayer (which worked before), there is no sound anymore too, and the video goes faster than usual in the beginning.

Before I followed the above alternative, I installed SMplayer. Maybe there is some incompatibility?

    Thanks for help,
    Martin

    Hi PirateOne,

Make sure that you have the added fedora updates repository.
Open pirut (add & remove programs entry) go in edit/repositories(Ctrl+R) and check the updates repository, you should have both fedora and livna already checked. Close the pirut window and open a terminal as root then type
    yum install vlc.

If you still have issues others have found this worked for them

    su
    sudo yum update fedora-release
    sudo yum install vlc

then just answer yes to all that you need.

    Hi barrie!

thanks for your response (sorry for the delay, I had some internet problem).
Actually the problem was a very simple one: I just had to restart the system  I always ended the process "pcm" via the system monitor when the media player was stuck - obviously this affected the vlc player ,

sorry for wasting your time

    Best regards, Martin
