No sleeve?

My acer aspire one came today from Play.com but in the top part of the box there was no black protective sleeve/pouch. Does it not shiip with them in the UK?

I have seen them on box opening videos on youtube. :|

My French One, from Grosbill.com, came with a sleeve.

I ordered one blue and one white A110 from the same place in the UK. The white one came with a sleeve and the blue one didn't! :?

Not sure I like it though compaired to the one that came with my EEE PC. Off to ebay later to get one made out of the same material at the ASUS one me thinks.

I don't think it's much of a loss. It's only thin vinyl and, unlike the One itself, looks rather tacky.

I already have a very small laptop bag that I use as a man bag (yeah, I know) but handily it has a laptop pocket into which my One will slide very nicely.

If you really want to carry your One around in a sleeve, I reckon you'd be better getting a neoprene sleeve. I have one for my MacBook Pro and not only does it feel much nicer than vinyl, it provides quite good protection.

One thing that is a bit strange about this is the inconsistency from one One to the next. Some have Intel SSDs, some Samsung. Some have a 2200mAH battery, some 2400mAH. Some have a second soldered mini PCI Express slot, some don't. Some have a sleeve, some don't.

I don't think the discrepancies are that strange, although all these machines are shipping at the same time some of them will have been made weeks before others as Acer built up stock. They are also likely to have been built in different factories and using the materials which were available at that moment, since SSDs and batteries are in heavy demand right now they'll use whatever they can get their hands on. Even the mini-PCI-E slot can be explained this way, it's likely that it didn't feature on the plans given to some manufacturers or was marked as optional. The factories which will later build the 3G models will probably be including it now so that they don't have to re-tool and re-train later.

Either one factory couldn't source the sleeve, or stocks ran out and they shipped without them.

From what I've heard, the first units produced come with a sleeve, but not later ones.
