Have you tried to boot from a DVD/CD or a USB drive?

Tried a USB but no luck. I do not have an external dvd/cd drive to try.

Going by the OP, you don't mention an HDD model, name or serial number. If the BIOS isnt reporting either, then you most likely have a dead / faulty hard drive. The Windows blue screen might be a result of the drive failing. Try disconnecting and reconnecting the hard drive. If that doesn't work I can only suggest installing a new hard drive and installing the software.

The bios reported a blank where a HDD should be, no name - no serial number.
There was no reaction when the USB was put in.

I think I am going to consider this a dead HDD.
i have never had this before... computer froze, then BSOD, then gone at restart.
Only F2 key works, nothing else.

Did you set your bios to boot from a usb drive or use F12 while booting to select the drive you want to use? If you can not boot from your hard drive or a usb drive (that works on another computer) sounds like more than a bad hard drive. Maybe memory???

Bad memory isn't going to prevent the BIOS from detecting devices such as hard drives. You mentioned It's only three months old, I'd suggest making use of the warranty and have Acer look at it. I believe the problem is a dead drive, which warranty will replace, but if there is anything else wrong with it, they'll fix it while they've got it.
