New Out of Box- Cannot Get On line....

    I just opened my Aspire One (factory refurbished) and I cannot get the "Network Connections" button to even work. I turned on the wireless at the bottom edge of the lap top. It has a yellow light on the right side. I know if I can get to my network connections page I should be able to get my connection to work. But when I click on the icon, it does nothing. Am I missing software?

    This is a Christmas present for my son. His main purpose for this was to surf the net. Any suggestions? ( I have called the manufacturer support line and I had to leave my info and an message and they would get back to me with in 24/48 hours) bummer!
