"NEW ITEM This Item has not yet been configured"

Hi,

I'm new here, and new to Linux. I bought the AspireOne this afternoon, for presenting slide shows as I'm a lecturer.

I have come unstuck already, though.

A box appears on my desktop with the above message on it when I hover the mouse pointer over it. It seems to have a button in a kind of star of david shape, but when I press it, nothing seems to happen.

Any ideas why it's there, what it's doing, and how to get rid of it?

Try right clicking it then remove...

Hi,

I tried that, didn't work. I'd only just bought the computer, so I decided to just use the recovery CD and start from scratch again.

It hasn't reappeared, so far!
