    Hi,

I find that whenever I close the lid or ortherwise put the
laptop to sleep, then Network Manager icon has disapeared
from the panel after I return. The connection was then
broken, and I can only get the panel icon back up by
    restarting the machine.

I *can* reconnect to the internet though (just without the
Network icon). One of the following three things did the trick:

    (a) Plugging in an ethernet cable
    (b) Running /etc/init.d/NetworkManager
    (c) Waiting long enough.

I don't know which one did it though. I would like to get the
icon back though, so I can have wireless.

    Any ideas?

    Cheers.

Same problem here. I have this problem since I updated Network Manager to v. 0.7.0

These are my instructions that I made to fix my problem which (through your descriptions) seem identical to yours. These instructions assume you haven't gone nuts making modifications already. Use them at your own risk!

Thanks for the step by step but I was hoping you could explain the
    principle too.

As it happens, I had already upgraded the NetManager RPMs to the
versions you suggest. So I just got rid of the kill commands in
the suspend/resume scripts and that seems to do the job. The
only thing is I did not do anything with kbr5 or with keyrings.
What was that all about anyway?

    Cheers.

Do you have all the updates? I have intalled all the upates to my Linpus 8g ssd box. When I close the lid, and the open it, I have to wait a bit, then the power button blinks, then I push the power button and the box slowly comes out of sleep or suspend or whatever standby mode it is in. A little bit longer wait and my wireless reconnects. It takes about a minute or two, but it comes back fully, including wireless.

But I datalog stuff in cars sometimes, I do not want the computer to go into suspend or standby when I close the lid. Fortunately you can turn off this feature. I believe it was in the Settings>Powersave>General section, using the gui. You can click on the lower left corner (I cannot remember what it said, I am not using my AAO right now) of the General tab and then set the feature to Do Nothing when the lid is closed. It works fine after that.

I think most of the suspend, hibernate, standy features in Linpus work, just maybe quite perfect. Better than any other Linux box I ever tried to configure.

    Sanger.
